In 2016, Sandra Woods was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a rare autoimmune and neuro-inflammatory disease. Using her nature photography, she began advocating for chronic pain conditions. In 2021, she expanded her artistic pursuits to painting, aiming for impressionistic yet recognizable scenes.

"Moving Ahead" depicts a person progressing beyond negative emotions, experiences, and memories. Woods painstakingly applied eight layers of transparent watercolor on white cotton paper, allowing a day for drying between each. This meticulous process mirrors the intricacy of the human mind and our capacity for enduring transformation.
